Meet the Spice Girls

Hard working team members, much loved pets

Just up from The Garden you'll come across a large chicken run. We have 6 original girls, lovingly named after spices, Cinnamon, Star Anise, Clove, Pepper, Cardamom and Paprika. They were named because many of our animals over the years have had food names, but collectively it was fun to realise they are 'The Spice Girls'. The girls play a vital role On Cockatoo Lane, they eat all The Garden waste and most of The Kitchen scraps (the rest are composted). In return they provide us nutrient rich manure that we compost and then dig into our soil and they provide us beautiful fresh eggs. In 2025 the original girls are slowing down with laying so we are raising another 6 to add to the squad. Cumin, Coriander, Fennel, Ginger, Turmeric and Nutmeg.

We acknowledge the Ngadjuri and Peramangk as the traditional owners and custodians of this land, we value their continued connection. We thank them for caring for Country across generations and pay respect to the Elders and Ancestors. We recognise this was and always will be First Nations land.
